Karl Friedrich von Moltke

Page history last edited by Brock Samson 12 years, 6 months ago

NAME: Karl Friedrich von Moltke

NICKNAME/ALIAS:

AGE: 287 years (appears to be in his 30's)

SPECIES: Master Vampire

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Karl Friedrich stands about 6' and weighs around 200 lbs. He's well muscled though not as big as the vampire who made him. His blond hair and blue eyes combined with his features show off his German heritage like beacons in the night. He has numerous scars from his time as a soldier before becoming a vampire.

OCCUPATION: Contractor (read mercenary) for Spartan Military Solutions

PERSONALITY: Highly professional soldier during the day and when he was a mortal he was a party animal by night. No one loved good beer and fast women more than Karl Friedrich but over the last 250+ years his partying ways have tamed down quite a bit. A typical German, he still plays as hard as he works though and when they're not out doing contract work, Karl and his friend and fellow vampire Tom O'Banon can cause quite the ruckus. That said, he can be terribly sentimental and down right nostalgic.

BACKGROUND: Born in 1724 in the town of Parchim in the Kingdom of Prussia, Karl Friedrich was a scrappy young man who spent his time as a Weidman or fieldman, hunting and working in the forest as he did in the keneipe (pubs) drinking and chasing girls. When he was still young he joined the Prussian military as a part of a very new division called the Jäger Corps.

It was a new outfit, made up entirely of professional foresters. Jägers were trained in weapons and horses, and were primarily used for reconnaissance, skirmishing or screening bodies of heavier troops. Since they owned their own weapons they could (in principle) fill a crucial defensive role as militia in case of surprise assaults before any mobilization had been ordered, or as organizers of partisan warfare after an occupation. Jäger were not just skilled riflemen, they were also able to handle and maintain delicate, accurate rifles in an age when very few people had any mechanical skill. Karl thrived in this new role and was quickly battle tested during the First Silesian War.

It was at the end of the First Silesian War that Karl had risked his life to save an infantry officer who's father was nobility. As a result, Karl Friedrich was to be awarded the Order of the Black Eagle, officially knighting him and placing his name among some of Prussia's most revered. Originally he was told that the award would be presented by the King but was informed the night of the ceremony that it would actually be the queen, Elisabeth Christine of Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel who would be presenting him with the honor.

For the next ten years Karl Friedrich proved to be a dedicated soldier, and a fierce fighter. His trademark became taking out enemy sharp shooters by sneaking up on their position and brutally hacking and stabbing them to death with his German Falchion and Hirschfänger (hunting knife). When that wasn't an option he simply used his keen marksmanship skills as well as his top of the line Kentucky Long Rifle to make short work of enemies from a distance.

It was in 1756 at the beginning of the Seven Years War that he first met a fellow soldier who was going by the name of Egon Schultze. He was a massive man, as tall as he was muscled who only worked at night. Karl Friedrich was a battle hardened veteran when he met Egon yet he learned much from fighting beside the man. Egon's tactics were unconventional and brilliant though he often downplayed his role in the success of particular actions. He made use, from time to time, of an Irishman who would feed him information on troop positions and the Irishman would join them in the resulting slaughter.

After a few months of fighting together Egon revealed his name was actually Constantine and that he was a centuries old vampire. He explained that he wanted to expand his power by making another vampire beyond the Irishman and offered Karl Friedrich the chance to be immortal. Karl seized the opportunity and little changed as he learned how to be a vampire. He continued to fight for Prussia well into the time when the French became a greater and greater threat.

It was only a matter of years before his master was called to the America's by his maker, Primo and Karl Friedrich found himself alone as a vampire for the first time. Constantine had made the request that Karl secretly keep an eye on another young vampire named Olivia. Much to Karl Friedrich's surprise, the vampiress Olivia was actually the same queen who had knighted him years earlier. He watched and waited until she rose up and killed her master, after which Constantine requested that Karl join him in America.

After arriving in America time seemed to really fly by. Constantine took on a few more vampires, teaching them all the art of war and hand to hand combat. It seemed in a way that for years Karl was training for the day that Constantine would ask him to return to Germany. It was in the late thirties that Constantine told Karl that friends of his in the US Government were looking for spies to send to Nazi Germany. Karl agreed and an identity was carefully put together for him.

Before becoming a vampire, Karl had a family in Prussia. He had left them behind for too many trips to the battlefield and lost track of them. It turned out that his descendants had become rather prominent generals while he was gone and it was easy to craft a story behind how he was a long lost member of the family. He didn't even have to use a fake name...

Karl became an early member of the SS and quickly climbed his way through the ranks. He fought for the Reich all the while feeding information to the Allies. His greatest victory came when he made contact with his master's old friend Olivia who was still living in Germany. After revealing who he was and what he was doing, he convinced Olivia to assist him in his mission. This became all the more critical after America joined the war.

Shortly after the bombing of Hamburg, Karl was contacted by Constantine and ordered to not only get his ass out of Germany but to smuggle Olivia and all that she owned out with him. Karl called in every favor he had coming to him with contacts throughout the Reich as well as with American forces. He got Olivia out without a hitch but didn't leave right away. Instead he stuck around to track down a Jewish resistance fighter who'd managed to get himself onto the Reich's most wanted list.

With Constantine's blessing, Karl went on the hunt and managed to track down Mose Kovner when no other man in Germany could. He made Mose an impressive offer, move his family to America and he could watch over them forever. Mose accepted and Karl Friedrich finally left for America. It was a smooth transition for Karl from there, becoming a mercenary in Constantine's PMC in the sixties.

STRENGTHS: Like his master before him, Karl can feed off of violence and has many of the powers typical of master vampires. Like his master, Karl's strength and speed are impressive even by vampire standards. Unlike his master it seems he may be developing the ability to harm from a distance, showing his lineage. His years of combat experience are only rivaled by Constantine and Tom O'Banon. Has always been interested in mechanical things and has become a bit of a tech-nerd and gear head over the years.

WEAKNESSES: Has always had a weakness for a pretty girl and has gotten himself into plenty of tight situations even after becoming a vampire.

ITEMS ALWAYS FOUND ON THIS CHARACTER:

SPECIALIZED COMBAT/DEFENSE SKILLS, if any: Has been trained by Constantine in Pankration and is a high skilled marksman and knife fighter. His falchion and Hirschfänger are still his preferred tools for dispatching enemies though he never uses guns outside of the range.

OTHER SPECIAL POSSESSIONS: Still has the same falchion, Hirschfänger, and Kentucky Long Rifle that he used throughout his career as a Prussian soldier.

QUIRKS, INTERESTS, HOBBIES: In the '50's Karl discovered rock n roll and a serious love of the genre started. Now he listens to everything from the early days of rock to modern German Industrial Metal.
